Meet Tom Georges

Tom is a candidate for Illinois State Senate in District 26 who is “Dedicated to Creating Solutions for Illinois”.

Born and raised in the Western suburbs of Chicago, Tom acquired an entrepreneurial spirit from his father who was self-employed as the owner of retail stores. At the very early age of 5, Tom would travel to work with his father every weekend where he would do small odd jobs and learn how to interact with customers. As he grew older, Tom cleaned floors, stocked shelves, and worked the cash register; eventually, learning how to perform the various tasks required in running a business. As the business developed, his father began investing in real estate which is where Tom acquired his interest in real properties.

After graduating High School, Tom graduated from College of DuPage and Northern Illinois University. Compelled to national service, and before graduating college, Tom was commissioned early as a second lieutenant and missed his college graduation ceremony as he was already attending his officer basic course at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. After returning to Illinois, Tom spent the next 10 years working in the real estate property management business. He continued to build his real estate career becoming a licensed real estate broker and real estate appraiser; additionally, working as a hearing officer determining property fair market assessments.

After reaching the rank of captain in the Army Reserve, Tom was offered an opportunity to enter active service where he remained until retiring at the rank of colonel. During his time, Tom worked at strategic, operational, and tactical levels while moving from various assignments ranging from Minnesota, Texas, Virginia and California; with additional assignments in the Midwest.

Meeting 25 years earlier, each having had two children, Tom reunited with his now wife, Colleen, a registered nurse, and now lives in Mundelein with their son Joseph. Today, Tom is a Small Business Owner who manages real estate investments and serves as a member of the Village of Mundelein Planning & Zoning Commission. In addition, Tom and Colleen are foster parents, Colleen facilitates adaptive aquatic (water-skiing) activities in the summer, Tom and Joe belong to Cub Scouts Pack 60 and all are active members of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Libertyville.
